Technical Disciplines

IUF-Slalom

The IUF Slalom is a course consisting of ten cones, which are set up as shown in the figure. The riders start individually and must complete the course as quickly as possible in the correct order. An electronic timing system is used. As in the racing disciplines, running starts are prohibited and will be monitored by the electronic timing system. While completing the curse the rider may touch the cones, but must not knock them over. Each rider receives two attempts. Dismounting before the finish line or knocking over a cone will invalidate the attempt. The required safety gear is the same as for the racing disciplines.

Coasting

Coasting is about coasting as far as possible. The rider must not touch any part of the tire, the wheel or the cranks and pedals. The feet are either both placed on the fork or one foot is kept free in the air.

In competition there is a speed-up distance of 30 m. A starting line, from which the athlete has to coast, marks the point from where the distance is measured. At a distance of 5 m from the starting line is the qualification line, which must be reached for the attempt to be valid. Each rider gets two attempts. The required safety gear is the same as for the racing disciplines.

Slow Balance

In the Slow Balance disciplines, the rider rides as slowly as possible over a distance of 10m, keeping in continuous motion. Stopping, jumping, moving in the opposite direction or turning the wheel sideways by more than 45° is not allowed. Each rider gets two attempts. The only required safety gear is shoes.

There are two Slow Balance disciplines: Slow Balance Forward and Slow Balance Backward. In Slow Balance Forward all U11 age groups ride on a 30 cm wide board, all other age groups in a 15 cm wide board. In Slow Balance Backward for all U11 age groups the board is 60 cm wide and for all other age groups 30 cm.

Stillstand

In the Stillstand discipline, the rider balances as long as possible on a 25 cm long, 10 cm wide and 3 cm tall block of wood, without jumping or turning the wheel sideways by more than 45°. Each rider gets two attempts. The only required safety gear is shoes.
