Racing disciplines

The track races take place on a tartan track, which is also used in athletics. The aim of all track races is to complete the distance as quickly as possible without dismounting from the unicycle. To continue the race after a dismount is only allowed at 800m and the relay.

100m

In this discipline up to 13 riders start simultaneously on the 100m straight of the track. Each rider rides in his own lane during the whole race.

400m

Up to 8 riders start simultaneously from staggered positions in the first bend of the track. Each rider rides in his own track during the whole race.

800m

In this discipline, up to 8 riders start simultaneously from staggered positions in the first bend of the track. At the breakline after the first bend the riders are allowed to leave their lane.

50m One Foot

Up to 13 riders start simultaneously on the straight of the track, but the riders are only allowed to ride with both feet on the pedals for the first 5m. When crossing the 5m line, only one foot may touch the pedals. The other foot can be placed on the fork, but may also be kept free in the air.

Wheel Walk

The riders of the U11 age groups ride 10m, all others 30m wheel walk. Up to 13 riders start simultaneously on the straight of the track. The start is already in the wheel walk position, in other words, with the feet on the tire. During the whole race the feet must not touch the cranks or the pedals of the unicycle.

Relay

In the relay up to 8 teams with four riders each compete against each other. The teams start from staggered positions in the first bend of the track. Each rider of the team drives 100m and hands over a baton to the next rider after his distance. The handover zones are marked on the track.
